Why your email list is SO important

If you’re not making the most of email marketing for your business, it’s time to start! We promise you that the time investment is beyond worth it. Why? Let me explain...

Reason 1: Getting those conversions

Email marketing is the leading channel for securing and nurturing leads. It truly is one of the most valuable things that you can focus on in terms of growing your business, getting more sales and making those profits skyrocket.

Unlike other channels (IG, we’re looking at you!), email marketing isn’t impacted by constantly changing algorithms. As long as you avoid spam filters, your content will always land in a potential customers inbox, meaning that getting them to fall in love with what you do is easier.

Reason 2: Building intimacy

Your email list is essentially where your biggest fans are. The people that love you! After all, they’ve allowed you into a very sacred online space.

As such, email marketing allows you to create a more intimate relationship with your customers. By connecting with them on this new level, you can build trust and boost brand advocacy.

REASON 3: OWN IT!

You will never own your Instagram. Or your Facebook. Or your LinkedIn.

Whilst this doesn’t make them less important as channels for communicating with your potential and current customers, it does mean it’s important to also have a channel that you truly have control over; one that won’t potentially disappear overnight!

You own the list of contacts that you have, no matter what. That’s powerful stuff.

However, knowing that email marketing is important and knowing how to make it work for your biz are two very different things! Don’t worry. We’re here to help.

Three tips for killer email marketing

Tip 1: Think about more than just your product

You may be creating emails because you want to sell your product. But that doesn’t mean you should only talk about selling your product.

In order to get the most conversions, focus on creating an engaging strategy that educates, amuses and informs your potential customers. Think about what you can add to their lives, beyond the products that you create.

Tip 2: Offer more than a discount

It’s common for product based businesses to offer an intro discount for new email subscribers in order to get them to sign up. However, this is often not the best strategy, as it doesn’t lead to long-term relationships.

We’re after brand advocacy here, people!

To play the long - and much more beneficial - game, think about whether you could offer something juicy and value-packed instead. A free guide? An exclusive masterclass? A short e-book on your area of expertise?

Tip 3: Get segmenting

Once you’ve started to grow your list, it’s important to analyse your content and the people subscribing.

Use the data provided by whichever service you use to see what kind of subject lines, content types and even what visual design performs best. Then do more of that!

Plus, think about whether you can segment your audience based on things like job, location, age and interests, to serve them truly tailored emails. Now that’s a recipe for marketing success.
